think vivaldi as you read- you could even put on the four seasons if you felt really ambitious

possible prettiest city in the whole wide world: venezia! omigodomigodomigod! whew! federico and i just spent the weekend there and it was a brilliant, gorgeous place like none i've ever seen. you'd think that you'd get bored of water and colourful buildings and ancient bridges but nope! and you'd think that piazza san marco would get less impressive after seeing it ten times but nope! you wander wander wander through those tiny little streets, chaotic and yet peaceful, and suddenly you're standing out in the sun staring at this incredible basilica and the famous clock tower and the lion and.... ok. i'm not really describing this very poetically but...

PRETTY!

the guide to photography in venezia: waitforthegondolawaitforthegondolawaitforthegondolaSNAP! yes! another photo with a gondola in it! whee!

it probably gets less exciting if you live there but taking a boat as bus is absolutely lovely. and no cars! we took a nap on a bench under some big green leafy trees, got guided through the labyrinth of streets by some cute old italian lady and her mutty dog, ate giant chunks of bread and cheese by the grand canal (cuz we're still stingy bastards) and all of this while wearing t-shirts in the glorious early summer sun.

that's something.

Oh Venezia! How I miss you so! Well, except for the pigeons. All the pigeons in Europe knew exactly when to take flight so that they would scare the crap out of me while narrowly avoiding striking me in the face. Little bastards.

I can't possibly take the time right now to expand on why Venice is a gift from the deity of your choice, but it IS. I'm so happy you've seen it too. Sigh, Italy...
