i may be the only person in the world to benefit from swine flu

how many times must i relearn her ways. you will be disappointed, downtrodden and frustrated endlessly and just when you have given up hope and decided to move on, you get exactly what you wanted.
i applied to the bihar school of yoga in march and hadn't heard anything back. i tried calling on multiple occasions but the number never seemed to work. the school does not use email, so that avenue was unavailable and regular mail was going to be too slow to get any response before i left. finally, as my trip quickly approached, i realised i needed to make new plans as i obviously had not been accepted. then, two days ago i randomly checked my secondary email account that i rarely look at. there was an urgent message from the school, telling me that in addition to my other medical testing i now must also get tested for swine flu. i was excited and confused, because this meant they had obviously received my application, but i still didn't know if i was really in the program. at the bottom of the email it said not to respond to the email, as it was generated from an emergency account that would not be answered by the school. however, a phone number was provided that was slightly different from the one on the website. i called and finally it rang! an indian person answered and told me that i had to call back the next day, as the office was closed on sundays. gah! so many months of wondering and worrying and i had to wait one day more! as you can imagine, last night's sleep didn't go too well. i called again today and lo and behold: I AM ACCEPTED!!!!! it seems that my acceptance package must be somewhere in limbo...
so now all my alternate plans must be tossed to the wind as i whirl around trying to do everything i need to do before i leave the country! classic india- i apply 7 months early for the course and still manage to end up in a last minute panic. i'd be annoyed if i wasn't so happy.
and this is why i may be the only person in the world to benefit from swine flu. if not for that email i never would have got the correct phone number and known that i got into the school.
so... no more time for writing, as i must now go rip apart my packed backpack (i leave calgary at 7 tomorrow morning) and totally change everything so that i can be prepared for a cool winter in the north instead of a sunny holiday in the deep south. yes, i remember now that this is the way things go.
