there are far fewer fat old americans wandering the streets. far more hipsters and hippies. i can't decide which is worse, to be honest. at least the tourists stuck to government street. all these damn young folks are clogging up the cafes and beating me to the sweet and sour soya pork balls at the lotus pond half price buffet. school must be back in and i've got nothing but books under my arm and a pen hanging out of my mouth. who's curriculum am i following now? why does everything i own smell like cookies?
went to saturna and clambered on the goat trails. drove to carmanah and swam through brush thick like an ocean of tangles. ian was out to visit, and helped to prove that alberta kids really know where it's at. of course, where it's at is here on the coast, it's only us poor albertans who can recognise it. bc folks are soft and spoiled and don't even know the difference between bees and wasps. i swear.
